There are many signs of stress from feeling overwhelmed and over-burdened to depression and anxiety and, in today’s world, it is understandable why more and more people are feeling the effects of stress and anxiety.

A few ways to wind down and try to switch off are:

Find an activity

Do something creative, drawing, painting, baking, even DIY – the sense of achieving something can really help.

Move your body

Maybe go swimming, or take a gym class, or for a walk in the wild, something to focus on and to release those feel-good endorphins from exercise.

Meditate

Meditation can be a really good way of shutting out the world for 20 minutes or more to regain some calmness that is sometimes hard to find after a busy and stressful day.

Journal

Journaling has become very popular. Writing it all down and getting it out of your head can have an amazing effect and relieve that jittery stress feeling. Or, writing down one thing a day that has happened that has achieved something positive can have a big impact.

Music

Put on some music and turn up the volume, different types of music have a different effect on the mind, from blasting out some cheesy pop while cooking diner, to having some relaxing classic music before bed.

Talk

Also talking is great therapy, just voicing what is making you feel stressed can help wonders, this can be to a loved one, family, friends and of course, there are professionals who are always ready to help.
