Solicitor, Director and Head of Private Client
Chris qualified as a Solicitor in 1996. He spent his first 3 years in practice with Rees Page in Wolverhampton, then 8 years with Parkinson Wright in Worcester, almost 5 years with Harrison Clark in Worcester and was then with Young & Lee in Birmingham briefly before becoming the proud owner of Onions & Davies on 1st November 2010.
Chris has always specialised in what is known as “private client work” – Wills, Powers of Attorney, Tax and Estate Planning, Trusts, Administration of Estates, Care Fees Funding and Advice to Care Home Managers and Owners, and enjoys working closely with a wide variety of individuals and their families.
He is a member of STEP (The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners), Solicitors for the Elderly and the Law Society’s Private Client Section and a frequent speaker for charities (Mencap, Worcestershire Association of Carers, etc.), community and professional groups.
Chris is a regular networker, primarily through Severn Valley Business Group but also with other groups throughout Birmingham, the Black Country, Shropshire, Worcestershire and online and is always looking for opportunities to pass business throughout his extensive range of contacts.
Outside work, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, is an active member of his local church and has recently taken up Ballroom and Latin dancing.
Solicitor, Director & Head of Family
Louise qualified as a Solicitor in August 2007. She trained and continued to work at a firm in the South East, specialising in family and matrimonial work, before moving to Shropshire and taking a position at Onions & Davies in June 2011. Louise is now well established in the Shropshire area and also acts for clients in Cheshire, Staffordshire and throughout the Midlands.
Her work includes divorce, financial remedy, child arrangements orders and disputes between unmarried couples, separation agreements, and pre-nuptial agreements. She can also assist in the making of marriage affidavits and change of name deeds.
Louise is a Resolution Family Mediator and assists former partners and parents to reach decisions about their finances, property and matters concerning their children.
The field of family law is where her heart lies. She is skilled at helping couples reach amicable arrangements, whether as their family lawyer or in the context of family mediation. She exercises a fair yet firm approach, striving for the best result for her clients and the children who may be involved. Louise is familiar with the local family courts and regularly represents her clients at court.
Louise is proud to be a member of ‘Resolution: first for family law’ and works to a code of practice which promotes an approach to family law that is sensitive, constructive, cost-effective and most likely to result in an agreement.
Louise spends her spare time with her young family who keep her very busy! She enjoys weekends away with her friends, reading and swimming.
Solicitor, Director and Head of Property
David studied at the University of Wolverhampton and was admitted as a solicitor in 1996 having completed his training at Burnetts Solicitors in Carlisle. He has practiced in the West Midlands, Worcestershire and Staffordshire, initially in Property and Criminal Defence, although he now works exclusively in Residential Property. Previous firms include Lumsden Grindley, Woolliscrofts and Hand Morgan & Owen.
David joined the firm in 2018 to head up and expand the Property Department and has a wealth of experience in dealing with all aspects of property work including: Sale and purchases of property and land, Freehold and Leasehold transaction, New build properties, Remortgages, Transfers of Equity.
A firm belief that communication is the most important element of any transaction has led to a reputation for being accessible and for meeting client’s expectations whenever possible. Combined with an ability to explain complex legal issues in an easily understood manner David always aims to ensure the conveyancing transaction is as smooth and swift as possible.
In his spare time David attempts to compensate for sitting at a desk all day by engaging in Nordic Walking, following his wife’s horticultural instructions in the garden, walking his dogs and spoiling his grandchildren. He is also a keen archer, being a member of Stafford Archers.
Family Solicitor and Armed Forces Covenant Co-ordinator
Kim read Law at Staffordshire University. She completed her studies over a period of two years and is one of the first students in the country to undertake and pass her Law Degree in such a short time. Kim then went on to complete her Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the University of Law in Manchester; she has since gained considerable experience working in the legal profession.
Kim joined Onions & Davies in 2016 and now undertakes all aspects of Family Law including: Divorce and Civil Partnership Matters, Finances arising upon Divorce, Matters involving Children, Separation Agreements, Cohabitation Agreements, Pre-nuptial and Post-nuptial Agreements, Living Together Agreements, Injunctions (e.g. Non-Molestation and Occupation Orders)
Kim has an insightful and thorough approach to representing clients at what can be a difficult time, and in sensitive circumstances. Kim adopts a conciliatory manner and endeavours to provide clients with the best possible advice to reach a fair and reasonable settlement.
Kim is the point of contact for ‘Armed Forces Covenant’ work. In March 2017, the practice pledged their support to the armed forces promising to offer a discount to members of the military for family work and private client work.
When she is not at work, Kim enjoys spending time with her family, socialising and travelling.
Private Client Paralegal
Sarah started her career as a legal secretary in the Residential Conveyancing and Private Client departments at Salmons Solicitors in Stoke on Trent. She then became a legal secretary specialising in Private Client matters with Lichfield Reynolds. While there, she completed her Legal Secretary certificate and advanced diploma in Private Client law.
Sarah joined Onions & Davies in 2013 and has developed her career further by completing her Paralegal studies in 2018, specialising in Private Client law. Sarah is an experienced Private Client Paralegal, known for her skill and knowledge in private client work, and her understanding and empathetic approach with clients.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys time with her family and days out. She is also a prolific baker!
Solicitor & Private Client Consultant
Qualifying in 2007, Samantha is a solicitor who specialises in Private Client matters. She is a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and a fully accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly.
Samantha has extensive experience in all areas of Private Client law from simple Wills and estates, to complex Wills, estate planning, Powers of Attorney and trust work.
Due to Samantha’s experience, she regularly appears on local BBC Radio discussing topical issues in the field of Private Client law.
Samantha is an avid reader of almost anything and when not working can either be found on long walks with her family and Springer Spaniel or travelling.
